This course is ideally for doctors who will be doing their first rotation in anaesthesia or have less than 6 months anaesthetic experience.
My aim is to teach all the things that I wish I knew much much earlier. These will include teaching all the basics and some advanced concepts in a structured way to increase your learning curve and improve your chances of having a successful anaesthesia term.
Anaesthesia is a very specialised field of medicine and considerably different to the other specialties we were exposed to in our medical school and junior doctor days.
The day you arrive in theatre there are a lot of things you need to know immediately to reach a basic level of competence in anaesthesia and many of these things you will eventually pick up casually over the next few months.
But I believe all those basic concepts are actually reasonably straightforward. So with a bit of guidance, knowledge and effort, I want to help you to gain independence of practice MUCH sooner.
This course will provide a very structured approach with lots of hints, tips, resources and memory aids to get you to that level.
We will provide a step-by-step system to approach anaesthetics. We will also cover strategic things directed at;
• How to arrange your rotation,
• How to get the most out of working one-to-one with a consultant,
• A system to ensure you don’t stagnate and can move to the next level
• And how to get a favourable reference at the end of the rotation.
We will also cover a few common and complex scenarios that occur again and again in anaesthesia and can be quite confusing when starting out without the right framework.
Overall, this course will aim to give you the tools to make the most of your rotation in anaesthesia and set you on the right track for your career
